Hi all,

It seems like Christmas was a life time ago and I am sure everybody is back into the swing of things with regards to uni.

I hope you all had a brilliant holiday anyway and best of luck to all of those with exams and deadlines looming.

I want to take this opportunity to let you all know about SU Awareness’ week beginning Monday 7th Feb, where we will be raising the awareness and profile of the SU to staff and students through a whole host of events, look out for the ones happening on your campus!

I also wanted to take this opportunity to remind you that we have a fantastic schedule of LED sessions, designed to help you with your employability upon graduating. All of these courses are free but we do have limited availability so check out the L.E.D section on the website and sign up to the ones that interest you before they are fully booked!

As always, any advice you need please get in touch

Thanks,

Fran :-)

Hi Guys,

Just over a week of term left :-)

Wanted to say thank you to those who attended Staff/Student Liaison Committee this term, however we really could do with more representation at these meetings. We discuss things like parking,  facilities and the library and it's a great opportunity to let those who can make changes know what the students are thinking.

You may think we've gone quiet on the The student Activity Fund front however it is still ongoing and in debate on whether it will go ahead, when I know any more I'll be sure to let you guys know.

We've also had more Stars training for those who missed the full day in November, this was a great success but I understand that lectures stopped some people attending, if this is the case for you you should have received the presentation by email. If you haven't please let me know :-)

Anyway, have a fab Xmas and if there is anything you need to get in contact with me about please drop me an email.

See you in 2011!

:-)

Hi Guys,
Can’t believe were in November (or Movember) already! Times flying, and I’ve been working as your student Rep for almost a month so I wanted to let you know what’s been going on.
On Saturday 23rd October at the campus centre, 50 stars attended a StARs training day. It was a great chance for everyone to get to know each other and share ideas.  The morning workshop allowed all f the StARs to learn more about their valuable role and what they can expect to be doing over the next year and then in the afternoon we managed to dodge the rain for the afternoon session which involved some great fun leadership and team building exercises.
You may already know that the SU are running a training and development initiative called LED (Leadership, Employability and Development).  The idea is to help students boost their employability for free and after you’ve taken part in a workshop, you even get a certificate for your CV.
Spaces on each workshop are limited, you can see the sessions that are scheduled here:
http://www.uwicsu.co.uk/led
And then reserve your place by emailing ahales@uwic.ac.uk.
I may have spoken to several of you as I wandered around Centro with the ballot box encouraging voting on the Activity Fund. Voting was very successful and around 1300 of you let us know what you thought.
Finally, Staff/Student Liaison Committee will be taking place on Friday November 19th at 2pm. Here, course reps and staff discuss any problems may be  happening within the school of education.  If you have something you want me to bring up or mention there please let me know :)
Thanks,
Fran

Hi Guys,

I’m Francesca and I’ve not long started the position of school rep and will be representing all students within the School of Education.

I’m studying Modern History & Politics and am now in my second year and decided to apply for this role as I believe it's important for students to have a voice at school and university level and I wanted to be able to help solve the problems and action the suggestions and ideas to those who make the decisions that I hear constantly around campus anyway.

Basically I'll be assisting the Students' Union and my role is to make sure that you have the best possible university experience over the next few years, therefore, if you have any problems, questions or suggestions please either come and find me on campus or drop me an email.

I'll be updating this blog monthly to let you know what has been actioned as a result of school meetings etc so if you haven't spoken to me personally and want to know what i've been doing as your school rep, check back here in 4 weeks.
