Amoriste – Five Track Demo Disc

Vaunted by the NME, Amoriste are a band with great potential. This EP showcases the band wonderfully, while leaving you ready for more from them.
If you like your indie featuring instruments that aren’t expected within a track then you’ll enjoy ‘Berlin’. The track features the brash sounds of an organ throughout, but finds itself being challenged and somewhat tempered with a lightly-polished vocal, which, in itself, sounds a little like it’s been dipped in Placebo – a stand-out track that I now have on repeat. Unfortunately, this vocal wasn’t carried over into ‘Jailbird’, which sounded a little amateur in comparison.
‘Wherever You Want Me’ contained a beautiful introduction, which lead me into belief that this would be a heartfelt ballad, however it then descended into a song similar to something that would have been produced by the Pigeon Detectives. While not a bad thing, and the surprise change in the track’s style was certainly awakening, it would have been nice to hear how this song would have progressed would it have stayed in the original style. ‘This Park is Mine’, however, had a very nasal vocal, although the band saves the day once again with their excellent drummer and guitarist.
These songs demonstrate that this band could be big, but will need a little polish around the edges if they are going to achieve widespread fame.
