Electric Six
Welsh Club
13th December 2009
By Terence Rosoman
December had returned, which brought with it Christmas festivities, over eating on food and drink and of course the annual Electric Six gig at Clwb Ifor Bach.
Now if you’re sitting there thinking you’ve never heard of Electric Six I can assure you, you have. Just cast your mind back to 2003 when the band released their first single “Danger, High Voltage”, ring any bells? No? Well then you’ll definitely remember “Gay Bar”. Remember? Yeh you do!
Since releasing their huge first album, Fire, Electric Six have somewhat go a little off the radar, but that does not mean they have not been creating their trademark up tempo rock/funk/electro music. In fact, the band have been at it like nuclear charged music rabbits, releasing a total of 6 more albums since 2003.
Being a huge self confessed fan of the six piece Detroit-based band, this would be my second Christmas Electric Six gig in a row, with last years gig being the best gig I’ve ever let me 5 senses experience expectations were high.
To warm up the night we were treated to the talents of Eureka Machines & John Q Public, but to be honest this just served as a bit of back ground music with little people showing any interest while we waited, we all knew why we were there.
By the time Electric Six took the stage the perfect setting for an awesome gig had been created, the club had filled and everyone was fully lubricated with their drinkies.
Electric Six did not disappoint. From wild mosh pit dancing at the front to the more conservative head bobbing at the back, they had every single person in the club moving. Admittedly, the dancing did calm during the lesser known tracks, but words cannot describe the pandemonium that incurred during the more popular singles of Danger High Voltage, Gay Bar and Dance Commander.
Overall Electric Six executed another legendary gig, although not as good as last years still phenomenal! I recommend to everyone attending at least one Electric Six gig as one of the things to do before you die!
