Calling all UWIC Freshers! This is your president!
Welcome to the best chapter ofyour life, and the most anticipated event of the University calendar.....FRESHERS WEEK!
Past, present and future students look forward to this week and you lot get to experience it for the first time. It is expected that you cause havoc, do things you have never experienced, meet tons of poeple and create stories that will stay with you forever! As you go through University, you will no doubt hear the students saying "UWIC TILL I DIE" and as I look back at my time at UWIC, I agree with this 100%, UWIC students are renound for being proud and passionate about where they study and what they represent.
Ok, a little about myself, after a lightly fought election at the end of last year, I was elated to be announced your student president for the forthcoming year. I recenly finished the best three years of my life, graduating with a BSc (HONS) in Psychology. I studied at Llandaff and spent my Freshers year on Evelian Court and wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else, but have regularly been assured by students from all campuses that this was the general consensus wherever you will be based. I'm here to communicate your needs and wants as a student body and represent you, so if you have any ideas, comments, suggestions or rants, however big or small really do not hesitate to come find me.
Now for some light advice.....talk to as many people as possible, don't spend al your loan in the first week (it's a long term), finally make the most of it, it will go quick!
Lastly, have a fab time and try to be safe, look forward to seeing you all soon.

Helloooooooo and a big warm welcome to the new UWIC freshers of 2009/10; and howdy once again to all students coming back to study. For those that weren't here to vote at the end of the last academic year, you might not recognise me - my name is Alex Hales and I am your brand new Students Union Vice-President!
Claire, myself and all at the Students Union will be making every effort to make sure you have the best time at UWIC, and that you take away with you many friends and even more memories!
As your new Vice Presient / Education Welfare Officer I will be based in the big new building on Cyncoed campus, so feel free to pop in for a chat at any time if you feel you have a problem that I or the team can help you with. The Sabbatical team at UWIC is all about getting your views heard, and making your University experience the best it can possibly be!
I hope you're all settling in well to your new homes. So for now, sit back, enjoy the Retro and conserve as much energy as possible to later expend at what could potentially be the best Freshers week yet! There will be loads of events for you all to go to, to meet new people, there are clubs and societies to be joined and not forgetting THE clubbing experience of Cardiff that will be taking part every night. Prepare yourselves, it will be amazing!!
