www.cardiffdigs.co.uk a one stop website for student housing and living needs.

Useful downloads:

This website is a central resource which aims to support you with information and advice about your time spent in Cardiff, whether that’s moving from halls to a house, practical tips about living in your rented accommodation, health and safety, moving into the community or other helpful services and guidance.

It aims to stop the confusion caused by mixed messages so that we have a one stop website about living and studying in Cardiff.

On
www.cardiffdigs.co.uk and linked on this page is ‘Cardiff Living’ which contains useful information and practical tips about living in your private rented accommodation including sections on:

Things to do as soon as you move in including community advice, Ground rules and tips for shared living, Rubbish and Bin Days, Maintenance, Home Safety and Security, Living in the property, Useful contacts among other sections.

The linked poster ‘You’re in. Now what?’ has been produced to support Cardiff Living. Please take a note of the advice and display this in your private rented property for everyone to see.

Two podcasts with advice called ‘Ground rules and tips for shared living’ and ‘You’re in…Now what?’ can be heard via this link and downloaded for use with your ipod or any media player:
www.cardiffdigs.co.uk

Help make this a successful and stress free year by making yourself aware of issues relating to moving into the community and private rented accommodation.

Also linked via this page is your recycling and rubbish collection calendar that highlights when your collection day is for general waste (weekly) and recycled waste (fortnightly) and what you can and cannot recycle in an official Council green bag. (Yes-No Green Bag). Green recycling bags are available for collection in the student’s union and union shop.

Remember:

Rubbish collection days:

TUESDAY – GABALFA, PENYLAN, PLASNEWYDD (ROATH)

WEDNESDAY – CATHAYS, ADAMSDOWN

• All bin bags are collected on the same day each week (black, green recycling and white composting bags). Black and white bags are collected weekly. The Green recycling is a fortnightly collection.

• Put rubbish out after 4pm the night before, or before 6am on the collection day and don’t let waste build up.

• A wall makes a world of difference. Rubbish cannot be collected if left inside the boundary of your property i.e. in your garden. It must be placed on the pavement to ensure collection.

• The Green Bag Scheme is a fortnightly collection of dry recyclables such as plastic bottles, cans and paper. These are collected in an official Council green bag. The green bags can be obtained from your student union, and Council buildings such as libraries and leisure centres.

The website and information is produced by Kieran McCann working in partnership with the three universities; UWIC, Cardiff, and Glamorgan and Cardiff Council. All downloads are available and produced in Welsh on www.cardiffdigs.co.uk
