Competing at UWIC
The Women’s team competes in the Western Conference of BUCS (formerly BUSA). BUCS matches take place on a Wednesday afternoon usually followed by a social in the evening. We have had a number of international lacrosse players pass through the squad, with two representing their countries in the European Championships this summer in Finland.
Every year we tour to Dublin for Sweet Chariot’s Dublinfest, where we reached the final of the mixed tournament in 2006 and went on to win in 2007.
Training at UWIC
We train from 6-7:30 every Tuesday on the Infield (next to NIAC on Cyncoed campus).
If there are no BUCS matches on the Wednesday extra training will take place either at UWIC Cyncoed or at Roath Park.
Social life at UWIC
We are a very friendly squad and many of the players end up living together in their second and third years. We generally have socials after all BUCS matches, and then whenever we feel like it. This year we will be starting of the socials with and evening of Bowling (with a few drinks) which has gone down really well over the past two years, a great way to get to know everyone.
Although the men’s and women’s teams train separately we interact a great deal in socials and support at matches.
