
The UWIC Tennis Club aims to provide coaching, training and competitive opportunities for all UWIC students who wish to participate in the sport.
Currently UWIC Tennis club runs three men’s teams and one women’s team. All these teams compete in the BUCS matches and are eligible to enter the Barclays BUCS Tennis Challenge Events and individual championships. Teams from UWIC Tennis club also have the opportunity to play in local and national club competitions.
To cater for the wide spectrum of playing abilities, the club runs several sessions throughout the week. These sessions include:
All sessions are organised and supervised by performance coach, Rob Meyers and his team of assitant coaches and senior players.
Furthermore, those students who choose to become a member of the UWIC Sports & Leisure Club will have free indoor court access between the hours of 09:00-16:00 and free gym access!
The UWIC tennis club has a very active social programme that extends to all members of the club. Events are organized throughout the academic year, including themed tournaments, fancy dress nights out and pub golf. The club has two social secretaries to ensure that you are never left wondering what your fellow tennis players up to!
All members of the UWIC tennis club are given a Canterbury Polo shirt and shorts in order to represent UWIC tennis at any internal or external competition. On top of this, all players will have all court time and equipment (balls and rackets if required) provided for each structured session. Add the extra sessions for the team players and a free 6 week coaching programme for all recreational players and you’ve got yourself quite a deal!!
All members will also have access to a Wimbledon ticket ballot for a chance to get to the biggest event in world tennis!!
