
Sean Power

Achievements / History:
Sean was formerly UWIC’s Director of Athletics; Head of the School of Sport; and Associate Dean in the Faculty of Education & Sport. He has been part of the UKA Achieving Excellence in Coaching (AEiC) programme since 2007 and the IAAF World Class Coaches Club since 2009, and coaches triple jump to international championship level. Previous athletes he has worked with include ex-UWIC students Steve Shalders (17.00m TJ, Welsh Record Holder, 2xCommonwealth Games, Silver Medal at the World University Games); Gary White (16.33m TJ, Gold Medal European U23 Championships), Elliot O’Neill (7.39m LJ, 16.16m TJ, European U23 Championships); Sally Peake (5.87m LJ,12.43m TJ); and Sharon Heveran (1.86m HJ). Sean has competed in 25 senior internationals, and at Masters’ level he has been British, European and World champion and record holder in the Triple Jump in various age groups. He has a personal best of 15.31m, and at Masters’ level (ie over 40 years of age) a best of 14.63m.
